External Reel Inspection
- Through visual Inspection.
- Through external mechanical inspection – handle, clearance between spool and flyer, drag smoothness.
Remove Spool
- Inspect, test, and if necessary, remove all drag washers and completely clean.
- Clean spool outer surfaces.
- Inspect drag clicker.
- Inspect drag knob to ensure proper seating.
Line Roller
- Examine for excessive play and visible damage or wear.
- Inspect the line roller for free spin smoothness and wear.
Handle Assembly
- Remove the handle assembly.
- Check for any play in the crank knob.
- Remove the nut and shoulder screw and clean.
Anti-Reverse Bearing
- Check anti-reverse bearing for smoothness, wear and any corrosion.
Side Cover
- Open up water-tight seals and the side cover using non-scratching tools.
- Remove and examine the stainless steel main gear.
- Remove and examine the roller bearing from the main gear shaft.
- Clean and inspect the spiral-bevel teeth on main gear.
- Wipe bearings clean and re-lubricate.
- Inspect internal area of the anti-reverse and needle bearings.
- Lubricate the I.D. of the anti-reverse and needle bearings.
- Thoroughly lubricate the roller bearing.
- Grease teeth of main gear and roller guide.
- Replace oil seal and o-ring.
